Florida Child Support Guidelines

Child Support is a mathematical recipe with three ingredients:

  1. Basic Obligation
  2. Medical Insurance Cost for the Children
  3. Child Care for the children

First, the parents net monthly income is determined according to Statute. The combined net monthly income is applied to a chart. The chart amount is selected. Then the parent's percentage of income to the combined net monthly income is applied to the chart amount to determine the basic child support obligation.

Second, the parent's percentage is applied to the cost of the medical insurance for the minor children alone.

Third, the payor pays their percentage of 75% of allowable child care. The total of these three numbers is the monthly child support obligation for each parent. There are circumstances to deviate from the calculated amount. For more information contact us.
